Revelation 16:12 (KJV)
And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
Ever since Jesus Christ said that only God knows the hour or day of the Second Coming, preachers and self-appointed doomsdayers have been trying to predict when it will happen–and watching the sun rise on yet another generation.
Even those who chastise date-setters often say “God’s final judgement is coming soon–and most likely in our lifetime, so get ready.
The Euphrates is the longest and most historical river in Western Asia, along with the Tigris River, they are the two defining rivers of Mesopotamia (The Land Between the Rivers).
The Euphrates originates in Turkey, and flows through Syria and Iraq to join the Tigris in the Shatt al-Arab, and empties into the Persian Gulf.
Babylon was the largest city in the Babylonian Empire, it was founded more than 4,000 years ago as a small port on the Euphrates River.
The city of Babylon ruins are located in today’s present day Iraq. Babylon was one of the most powerful cities in the ancient world.
And you know what was located in the city of Babylon, don’t you? The Tower of Babel.

According to the Book of Genesis, the Babylonians wanted to make a name for themselves by building a mighty city and a tower “with its top in the heavens”.
God disrupted the building of the tower by confusing the language of the workers, so that they could no longer understand one another.
The city was never completed, and the people were dispersed all over the face of the earth. You’ve heard of the learn a new language software, Babbel? This is where it got it’s name.
The Euphrates is called “the great river” five times in Bible Scripture. But, what is most relevant now…to us, is the mentioning of the river in The Book of Revelation.
Revelation 16:8-16 tells us what will happen when the fourth angel and fifth angel’s empty their bowls of God’s wrath and judgements.
The apostle John’s description of the bowl judgements resemble some of the trumpet judgements, but are much more intense.
These events occur just prior to the return of Jesus Christ to subdue his enemies, and establish His Kingdom here on earth.
The bowl judgements are God’s most severe, the first three bowls bring sores, seas of blood, and rivers of blood.
After a decleration of God’s justice comes the next three bowl judgements, scorching sunlight, darkness, and the drying up of the Euphrates River, to clear the way for an invading army.
For me personally I think about the scriptures speaking about the four fallen angels who God had bound in chains underneath the Euphrates River…
Revelation 9:14 (KJV)
And saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. We know that these are demonic beings because they are "bound". Demons are fallen angels, many of whom are bound in "chains of gloomy darkness" . Revelation reminds us that ultimately God is in control of these things, allowing or announcing each one. In the end times at no point is evil ever allowed to run entirely out of control.
Here we are, it is almost 2023…if you are someone who keeps up with the world’s ever changing current events, then I am sure you have seen the news stories on the Euphrates River.
It is literally almost gone. Scientists are stating that the river will be completely dried up as early as 2027.
People from all over the world are recognizing this and immediately comparing these events to the prophecies in the Book of Revelation.
Even non believer’s are having difficulty just laughing these things off. This is so important for people everywhere, any one who may be “sitting on the fence” of whether or not God is real, if there is a Heaven, and most importantly if there is a hell. The answer to all of those questions is YES!! If you are reading this right now, then I believe it is for a reason.
If you believe that God may be calling to your heart, please do not choose to ignore him. He loves us all so much, he gave his only son, so that we could have life. All he asks is for us to love Him back. Love Him with your everything!
